A most tragic loss, Andy will be SOARly lost along with his humor, good will, and infectious laugh. While we all have our shortcomings, those of us who leave this earth's surly bounds must remember and constantly remind ourselves that the earth can be unforgiving and therefore we owe it to our spouses, our children, our parents, our friends, our co-workers and everyone else we come in contact with that we must ever be vigilant and aware of our immediate situation to avoid potential tragedy. While each and everyone of us has our own way of dealing with the lose of our good friend, we must all find a way to do some serious introspection in the way we all operate when in the air. Based on conversations that I've had with Andy over the last 8 years whenever there has been a similar loss, I know that's what he would want us all to do - learn from his mishap and take something away from it to positively change to way we operate and become a safer pilot.

Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;

To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;

To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky;

Then back to earth at the end of a day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.

Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;

Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I’d do it again;

For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.

Rose and I attended Friday evening Along with Joe and Teresa, Bob Ballou and his wife and Chris and his wife and Martin Umberger. It is a sobering moment for sure how fast it can happen. Andy and I have known each other for atleast 10 years and although he was a independent thinker and quite the inovator he was always asking pthers opinions and questioning his thought process on most everything. We all know his mistake but can we do better at listening to our inner voice that say land. Rest in peace Andy my friend!

Lan and I are in town briefly this weekend, and we attended Andy's funeral. Tom and Steve were also there. A tough reminder of how suddenly our future, and that of our families, can change when we take to the air.
